Biographie

Richard Horatio Edgar Wallace (* 1. April 1875 in Greenwich bei London; † 10. Februar 1932 in Hollywood, Kalifornien) war ein englischer Schriftsteller, Journalist, Dramatiker, Drehbuchautor und Filmregisseur. Er gehört zu den erfolgreichsten englischsprachigen Kriminalschriftstellern und gilt als Erfinder des modernen Thriller, als dessen Hauptvertreter er Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts galt. Sein Werk umfasste insgesamt 175 Bücher, 15 Theaterstücke und zahlreiche Artikel und Rezensionsskizzen, die teilweise sehr rasch hintereinander veröffentlicht wurden. Bis zu seinem Tod arbeitete er an dem Drehbuch zu dem Hollywood-Film King Kong und die weiße Frau, das kurz vor seinem Tod fertiggestellt wurde. Quelle: Wikipedia
